TYPES OF NEUROTRANSMITTERS

TYPES OF NEUROTRANSMITTERS

Neurotransmitters are chemical signals that jump from one neuron to the next: they are often kept within synaptic vesicles and the process regarding releasing them from said vesicles is discussed in Synapses: Intersection between Neurons.

There are many different types of neurotransmitters, and I’ll briefly be going over each of them and their function within the brain and the nervous system in general. The types of neurotransmitters include the following:

I’ll discuss the first four in their own pages, and I’ll place the last four in Other Neurotransmitters.
